Training For The Grooming Process

Decorative blue squiggly line

Our goal is to make the grooming experience a positive one so that pets enjoy coming to the salon. Regular grooming helps keep their ears in good shape, their skin in good shape, etc. Some of our pets can be very fearful of the grooming process and that is where training comes in. Training for grooming is teaching pets to be cooperative for their care. We do this in a positive way utilizing treats and positive reinforcement. Pets will not be held down, or forced through any part of the grooming process. That means, if your pet is trying to bite us or jump off the table for their nails, they will not be getting a full nail trim that day. We will stop, and start working on positive ways to achieve the nail trim (which may take multiple sessions). Occasionally we may refer you to your veterinarian in extreme cases for anti-anxiety medications.
